When the first white men entered what we now call Zions Canyon, they must have marveled at the majestic mountain cliffs. The Native American considered Zion to be sacred and surely the early white settlers felt a similar sense as they gazed at these awe-inspiring cliffs. I wonder what inspired the name Angels Landing for this lone reddish-rock mountain that stands between the canyon cliffs. As I imagined this scene, I pictured soft whisps of clouds like the wings of an angel gently touching down. In this painting I can feel the moment of the Angels Landing
