Along the River 11x14 OE - Litho Print

I have always loved images of old Europe. They remind me of the old French Barbizon paintings that I am so attracted to. This painting is very peaceful to me. I also think there is a lot of beauty in subdued color. The subtle grays and opalescent lights are accented by the red shawl of the peasant woman, and the small blue note of color on the fisherman down by the river. I think a painting is a lot like people. Some people attract attention quickly when they enter a room. Perhaps they project their voices or dress more flamboyantly. Others tend to be more reserved; they speak as if it were a whisper, but when you listen to what they have to say it touches you deeply. This is how I view a painting like "Along the River."
