"Remember Liberty"

I painted a symbol that represents a vanishing ideal that needs to be rekindled in our day. "Liberty" is a delicate thing, left unattended can be snuffed out and nothing less than blood and prayer can rekindle the light.

It is a gift

Our forebears gave to us

Delicate and fragile

Towering over this nation

Paid with blood and prayer.

The sun fades

Delicate as a whisper

Slipping into the night

What was once bright

Is now dark and red.

It is now tossed aside

Why have you forgotten

To give hope to those who came

Yearning to breathe free

The light of her glory.

Never forget the gift

The torch of liberty

At the Gate of Heaven

Our steps to reach again

To awaken and remember.
